In 2013, he defends the Bota state seat and wins. BN captures Perak and he is elected as the
Perak assembly deputy speaker.
In 2018, he is dropped from the Umno candidate list but still campaigns for BN's Parit
candidate.
After the 2018 election, BN nominates him as the Perak assembly speaker but he
loses the post to Harapan candidate Ngeh

Anti-Corruption Agency.
In January 2009, he goes missing. A week later, he, together with Jamaluddin and Hee Yit Foong
attend deputy prime minister Najib Abdul Razak's press conference. He quits PKR and supports BN,
causing the collapse of the Pakatan Rakyat Perak government.
After the coup
Never contests an election again.
Is not charged with corruption.
Three days before the 2018 general election, he calls for a press conference to claim Nizar
Jamaluddin is a DAP puppet. He urges voters not to support Pakatan Harapan to prevent another
Perak crisis.
Jamaluddin Mohd Radzi, 63

Hee Yit Foong, 56

DAP's Jelapang assemblyperson. One of the Pakatan trio who defects.
Has been with DAP for more than 20 years. Elected Jelapang assemblyperson twice. She was also
elected as Perak assembly deputy speaker.
Goes missing on Feb 1. Despite DAP claiming to be able to contact her, she quits the party three
days later.
The same afternoon, she, together with Osman and Jamaludin attend deputy prime minister Najib
Abdul Razak's press conference. The trio declare support for BN causing the collapse of the
Pakatan Rakyat Perak government.
On May 7, a major scuffle breaks out in the Perak assembly. Hee is accused of using pepper spray
on DAP's Aulong assemblyperson Yew Tian Hoe.
Yew files an assault suit against Hee in 2010. The High Court rules in favour of Yew.
Subsequently, the Court of Appeal upholds the
decision.
After the coup
Never contests an election again.
Awarded a ‘Datukship’ in 2010 by the late Sultan Azlan Shah of Perak. Accompanied by husband
Quay Chin Teik, she receives the award at the Kuala Kangsar palace.
She leaves the political arena. However, a day before the 2018 polls, she is quoted by Utusan
Malaysia as claiming she is being discriminated against by DAP due to her
disability.
Najib Abdul Razak, 66

The then deputy prime minister and deputy Umno chief who is going to succeed Abdullah Ahmad
Badawi as prime minister. He is considered the main engineer of the Perak coup.
On Jan 30, he suddenly takes over the Perak Umno chief’s post from former Perak menteri besar
Tajol Rosli.
Five days later, he announces that the Pakatan Rakyat trio now support BN thus allowing the
coalition to recapture Perak.
On April 3, he is sworn in as Malaysia's
sixth prime minister.
After the coup
His premiership lasts for nine years until the 2018 polls when BN loses federal power for the
first time in the nation's history.
In 2015, the 1MDB scandal comes to light, and he was eventually slapped with multiple charges in
relation to the scandal.
After the 2018 election, he faces multiple court cases in relation to 42 1MDB-connected charges
filed against him.
Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin, 62

Perak PAS secretary and Pasir Panjang assemblyperson. Sworn-in as Perak MB after the 2008
general election.
After the Perak coup, the Perak sultan rejects his request to dissolve the state assembly. He
files legal action but he fails to reverse the coup.
In April 2009, he represents Pakatan Rakyat in the Bukit Gantang by-election, seen as a
referendum for the Perak coup. He wins by a majority of 2,789 votes.
Two months later, he shouts in Parliament, “Dissolve the Perak assembly!” and “Hidup Rakyat”
after being sworn-in as an MP. Five minutes later, Dewan Rakyat speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia
evicts him.
After the coup
In the 2013 election, he does not defend his Bukit Gantang parliamentary seat. Instead, he moves
from Pasir Panjang to the Changkat Jering state seat and wins with a 1,170 majority.
In 2015, PAS splinters. Nizar and Mohamad Sabu leave the party and set up Amanah. Currently, he
is an Amanah central committee member.
In the 2018 election, he again changes his state seat to Sungai Rapat and wins. Although said to
be an MB candidate, he is instead appointed state exco for investment and corridor development.

In the 2008 election, he is elected as Tronoh assemblyperson. He is later appointed the Perak
assembly speaker.
In January 2009 as Pakatan Rakyat representatives are rumoured to defect, he submits Osman and
Jamaluddin's resignation letters and declares the Changkat Jering and Behrang state seats vacant
for by-elections.
After Najib declares that BN has won the Perak government, he files a suit seeking for the three
seats to be declared vacant. The court rules against him.
After BN's Zambry Abdul Kadir is sworn-in as MB, Sivakumar bars Zambry and six BN exco members
from the state assembly. The Federal Court declares his order null and void.
On March 3, he chairs a state assembly sitting under a tree outside the assembly building.
On May 7, he refuses to give up his speaker's seat and is dragged out from the House by security
personnel.
On Oct 28, the incident reoccurs. His speaker's songkok and robe are confiscated.
After the coup
In the 2013 election, he leaves the Tronoh state seat and wins the Batu Gajah parliamentary
seat. He successfully defends it in the 2018 election. Currently, he is a member of the
parliamentary special privileges committee.
He is DAP national deputy secretary-general and Perak Pakatan Harapan secretary.

Still wears a black shirt. Says that while an elected government has been restored in Perak, he
still wears it because he now wants to abolish Malaysia’s ‘first-past-the-post’ electoral
system.

On Feb 6, he and other Pakatan Rakyat supporters protest against Zambry being sworn in as the
Perak MB.
He is charged under Section 145 of the Penal Code in relation to unlawful assembly.
After the coup
In 2013, the Sessions Court finds him
guilty of unlawful assembly. Sentences
him to two years' jail and a RM5,000 fine.
A GLC sacks him from a senior management
position.
In June 2015, the Perak sultan grants him a royal pardon. However, he still has a criminal
record causing him difficulties in finding employment.
He continues with political and social activism with his wife Nashita Md Noor and is seen at
several rallies including the 2015 Bersih rally, the 2016 Support Anwar rally and the 2017
Sayangi Malaysia Hapus Kleptokrasi rally.
